Step-by-step planted aquarium photography.

Within the constraints that each have to get a good picture aquarium (photographic equipment, lighting, location of the box, etc), some previous step we all can make and will help greatly to get a better result.

Here I list the ones I make, but as they say, each has his methods.
So this post is open, like all, your tips and suggestions.

1. several days before and on alternate days depending on the speed of growth of each plant, made a pruning in which I outline the final form I get solid, upholstery, etc. Obviously
must already have laid the groundwork for what is to be achieved much earlier.

2. Two days before the final photo clean all possible algae crystals embedded in it, and clean the outside glass thoroughly.

Right after I make a change of approximately 60% water, taking advantage of siphoning the bottom and suck all the particles in suspension after passing the rascavidrios.

And step one scoop nets along the surface to remove all "mijillas" that may be on the surface.

That same day I put the flute in addition to flush out water.
In this way removes some of the possible biofilm that might occur.

other hand, if I have red in the assembly plants for a couple of days I add a dose of iron slightly higher than normal to get strengthen these cells.

3. the day of the photo.
To avoid as far as possible the annoying bubbles generated by photosynthesis, this day does not add CO2 and turn on the lights for two hours before taking the picture (usually enough for plants to be opened completely). Nor
fertilizer.

After turning the lights off all the pottery and cotton Carefully remove the signs of the suction cups on glass and other marks that may be of moss.

Clean the windows of pesky snails (although just before taking the picture there is always someone to back up, and if you do not notice and then get you spoil the picture).

After all this will last approximately one hour (for the size of my aquarium, of course) and the fish are hiding.

While I give respite to be trusted and start out, start with the preparations of photography itself.

Here and here, I have given some notion, but the combinations are endless.

cards in the background with different colors .... lit from above, below, or both .... using strips of LEDs to achieve the desired color on a white background .... using colored cellophane to the projected light ... illuminating the aquarium from the front, from above, from the sides ... illuminating the aquarium at a specific point to make sunrise-sunset effect ... using a blow dryer to make waves on the surface ... etc, etc, etc.

Finally, if we adequately lit aquarium and make use of a camera with manual mode, here are some tips and parameters (obviously a better camera, the more options):

F: 10
ISO Max Suitable 100-200. 400. 80-100 Speed \u200b\u200b

Added: As indicated by Jordan in his commentary, for these parameters that indicates this is necessary to provide plenty of light to the aquarium. If we are not much better off that possibility af 7-8, ISO up to 400 for example and move up a little speed to avoid fish moved. Thanks Jordi for your contribution. Flash

off
Use a tripod, remote shutter release and image stabilizer off.
shooting in bursts. Photographing
total darkness without any light can be reflected in the aquarium.
Using a black cardboard frame around the edge of the aquarium. Get

fish are placed in the place that we (running from one side to another aquarium scaring her with a rag, lol, and even then sometimes not achieved or even hide and there is no way to go) Important

will take advantage to take pictures of details now that everything is installed, which I at least I have forgotten ever

;-( Importantísimo , get photos collected to a PC to view them in detail and note that they can enforce before removing all guirigai formed.

And I can not think right now most things, but surely there's more.

Well yes, do this when your partner is not at home and be treated like a freak with a rag while running ;-) Please

, all contributions are welcome, not afraid to participate.

And one of my photos using some of these tips (and if there mijillas combines floating bubbles ...)

All images displayed have been made by San Google (as often happen, I never remember what I do photographically document) .
